Market consultation to shape the country’s resilience strategy launched
A Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC) to engage relevant market operators in the development of Malta’s National Climate Adaptation Plan (NAP) has been launched by the Climate Action Authority.
The purpose of this PMC is to gather information on availability of required expertise for the development of the NAP and identify and assess workable, costed adaptation strategies that can be implemented through the NAP, according to Malta’s commitment to climate resilience and its responsibilities under the Paris Agreement and EU climate legislation.
Ing. Abigail Cutajar, Climate Action Authority Chief Executive Officer, stated that: “Addressing climate change involves not only efforts to reduce emissions but also adapting to its impacts. The authority will develop this plan with input from experts, social partners, and society at large. Our goal is to integrate climate resilience into our economy and daily lives, while empowering communities to participate in this transition.”
The National Adaptation Plan aims to strengthen Malta’s ability to prepare for and adapt to the increasing risks of climate change. Through this PMC, the Climate Action Authority is inviting proposals for practical actions that tackle the country’s most urgent climate vulnerabilities.
